LET'S WORK TOGETHER TO MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE!
March 9, 2020
A generational change in our family foundation has brought with it new areas of focus and enlightening opportunities to maximize our reach - both at home and around the world.
This year, we are proud to work with one of the leaders in international humanitarian medical care: Doctors Without Borders. Many of us have heard the name and can probably generalize what the organization does. However, the impact Doctors Without Borders has goes beyond medical to countries independent of their geography. They are making an impact all over the world and need continued support by us all.
So, with that in mind, we thought it would be worthwhile to highlight an organization we are honoured to be partnering with, and financially supporting for the next three years;
Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an independent international humanitarian organization that delivers emergency medical aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural and man-made disasters or exclusion from health care in more than 60 countries.
Every year Doctors Without Borders sends around 3,000 doctors, nurses, logisticians, water-and-sanitation experts, administrators and other professionals to work alongside over 25,000 locally hired staff. Together they run medical projects in more than 60 countries around the world.
In emergencies and their aftermath, Doctors Without Borders provides essential healthcare, rehabilitates and runs hospitals and clinics, performs surgery, tackles epidemics, carries out vaccination campaigns, operates feeding centres for malnourished children and offers psychological support.
When needed, Doctors Without Borders also constructs wells and dispenses clean drinking water and distributes materials like blankets, plastic sheeting and other basic necessities.
Through longer-term programs, Doctors Without Borders treats patients with infectious diseases such as tuberculosis, sleeping sickness and HIV/AIDS and provides medical and psychological care to marginalized groups such as street children.
Doctors Without Borders was founded in 1971 as the first non-governmental organization to provide both emergency medical assistance and bear witness publicly to the plight of the people it assists. Doctors Without Borders is an international network with branches in 23 countries.
There are many different ways to support Doctors Without Borders. Of course, there are traditional fundraising and donation options, which can be accessed via the link below. However, there are many ways we can support this amazing charity outside of just dollars. Whether it's holding your own fundraising event, being sponsored to take part in your favourite activity or even as you browse the internet, the possibilities are endless.
Over 90 percent of the money we raise comes from individual donations from people like you. This style of fundraising keeps Doctors Without Borders independent. Without your help, we would not be able to continue our life-saving work and reach people in the most difficult places.
