A couple of months ago, during the holiday season, a group of amazing students at Spring Valley Middle School created a "winter wonderland" display to raise money for the Central Okanagan Food Bank. This project took about 50 students almost 30 days to complete.
The students put a lot of effort into the project, with one of them, Isabelle Klassen, saying "Everything was looking amazing and everyone put so much effort into fluffing the trees. We put lots of effort into this, it wasn’t just a quick put together, which is really awesome."
The display was a hit with the younger students, inspiring them to be good leaders. The project leaders were thrilled with the outcome, saying "Honestly, it’s been amazing. It’s good to come together as a community, and it’s been a great experience because the Grade 6 students have never seen a school community like this with all the decorations, and they get to enjoy it."
The display also helped to raise money for the school's weekly fundraiser, which the students came up with. The students raised $1,700.00 for the Central Okanagan Food Bank through their Winter Wonderland hot chocolate drive. In recognition of their hard work and generosity, the foundation decided to match every dollar raised and donate ourselves in their honor.
We commend the amazing students at Spring Valley for their efforts and generosity. Thank you for being such incredible humans!
