LET'S WORK TOGETHER TO MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE!

The Spirit of Generosity

May 16, 2021

We all know about Instagram Giveaways. Usually, giveaways work as an enticing way to gain more followers and create strong partnerships, but for Breanna Macdonald of Table Forty-Nine it seemed like a great method to raise money for a worthwhile cause. The rules were simple, to win you had to donate any amount to CMHA, take a screenshot of the donation confirmation, and post it. The prize? An amazing and lavish Valentine’s package of Table 49’s delicious food creations.

At the Gratitude Project, we are always interested in new and innovative ways of giving and fundraising instigated by individuals with strong spirits of generosity. When we noticed what Breanna was doing through social media and her small business, we knew we had to meet her.  Sitting down with Breanna at Third Space Coffee we had an inspiring conversation about our shared passions for food, community giving, and mental health. But we also had a few surprises in store for her.

In honour of her continued giving and community support initiatives, we presented two $2,500 cheques for CMHA Kelowna and Central Okanagan Food bank in Breanna’s honour. But that wasn’t the end of the surprises, both Tammie Watson, Executive Director of CO Food Bank, and Shari Slattery of CMHA Kelowna were able to come by and thank Breanna in person and in turn Breanna was able to put those cheques directly into their hands where the money will most definitely go towards helping the greater community with their basic needs: mental well-being and eating well.

It’s individuals like Breanna who inspire us daily and continue to spur on our dreams for the Gratitude Project: elevating individual giving and inspiring others to do the same.
