#LandmarkLove Mother's Day Event

June 1, 2020

The 1st annual #LandmarkLove Mother's Day Gift Bag fundraising event, held Saturday May 9th at Landmark 6, hosted by Details Design Inc., and sponsored by the Landmark District, Crowe Mackay, the Stober Group, and the Stober Foundation was an amazing success surpassing all expectations.

The event, which sold out in a mere 7 days, raised $25,000 for the Central Okanagan Food Bank while celebrating Mom's special day in the Okanagan. The community curated Mother's Day gift bags valued at $25.00, featuring a bouquet of flowers, local goodies, gift certificates, and opportunities to win numerous grand prizes.

"We are incredibly grateful for the support of all organizations involved" said Trevor Moss CEO for the Central Okanagan Food Bank. "Since the COVID-19 crisis forced many local businesses to abruptly close their doors and lay off staff, we've had a significant increase in the amount of residents in need of our services" he says, "these funds will go along way to ensure local families and households facing financial insecurity have the nutritional support required to sustain a healthy life".

"We were honoured to support such a wonderful cause" said Dave Gauthier of Crowe Mackay. "The stress involved with having to choose between paying your bills and purchasing food is something that is affecting many people right now" he says, "as a community coming together and supporting the central Okanagan Food Bank, we can help remove some of those stressors and ensure everyone has a meal on the table and food in their cupboards".

"The food bank is a staple in many communities across British Columbia and Canada for that matter" said Keith Z. Brewster, Executive Director of the Stober Foundation. "Food banks are created with grace and staffed by some of the hardest working people you'll ever meet, many of whom are volunteers. They work tirelessly to help ensure those who need help have access to the basic nutritional needs they require. On behalf of our family and our foundation, we are honoured to support such a well-run organization like the Central Okanagan Food Bank, especially at a time when so many are relying on their services. Helping those in need within our community is integral to who we are and we're tremendously honoured and blessed to play our part".

As a non-for-profit organization serving Kelowna and West Kelowna, the Central Okanagan Food Bank is dedicated to providing much needed food and support to local families and households in need. Financial donations of any kind are greatly appreciated at this time. For those wishing to help, please consider making a donation or volunteering.
